Wordcount Wrapup

Whew. NanoWriMo is now over, and I made it with words and time to spare. Collapse now?

Sadly, RL does not approve of taking breaks, and time marches onward. To give myself a little breathing room, I'm going to give you some more Descendants of Ancients!

For the next week, you will get not one, not three, but SEVEN pages of DofA! That's right, folks, you get a fresh page of raw, unedited NaNo insanity every day next week, starting on Monday, 7 December, 2009, at the regular time.

This will give me a little more breathing room to catch up on all the things I missed this past month, such as giving the kittehs the homage they deserve. Maybe then they'll leave me alone for a minute.

My challenger, one Gadfly, gave up halfway through November, so we don't really have much of a conclusion to our throw-down. On the other hand, there were a ton of people who did finish and claim their nifty little badges; it was a lot of fun to Tweet with people about our progress, woes, and triumphs for four weeks. There's a great community of writers out there, and I'm so glad we have the interwebs to bring us together.

Lots of other things happened in November, but I'll stick to some of the more exciting ones. Rather, the ones I can remember right now.

The one you're probably most concerned with is the new website design. I was bored, and I wanted three columns. Maybe Irkdesu will be able to build me a custom site in a few months, but until such a happy occasion, here we go. If I get enough complaints from enough people, I'll change it back. Have to be a lot, though.

There are some new weblit-type sites out there, many of which enable you to review your favorite pieces. And yes, that was a massive hint. I've listed these on the links page, so please check them out and maybe find some new things to love! And leave me some love, hey? Sticking out tongue

Along that vein, I'm going to be redoing the points system here by the end of the month, to give you all some different things to spend your points on. I've got some ideas, but I'm interested to hear what you'd like to be able to do with what you earn.

The holidays are upon us, and I hope they are wonderful for you and yours, whatever you celebrate. I had a great Thanksgiving with my family and spent far too little time with my new cousins. They've been with us for three years, and the adoption finally went through last week. Yay! Also spent time with Gramma, who will be 98 in a few months. We live long and prosper in my nerdy family. But she might go at any time, so I'm going to rebuild my buffer just in case I have to be afk for a while.

Said buffer is, right now, non-existent. I had hoped to get more up before I began NaNo, but you know how it goes. I'll get up a page for Swords and Sigils on Saturday, then take a few days to breathe before plunging back in. Being out for half a week of the Day Job makes for mass chaos when you get back, and I've been cleaning all that up while plunging headlong into a project there. The DJ may get busier, which would be good for that but might make a dent in the online playtime. Can't have it all, sadly.

Since I'm getting tired, I will end this here. Sorry for ignoring you this past month, and I hope to hear from you all again soon!
