Wordcount Whackdown

I have been officially challenged to a NaNoWriMo type-off by Gabriel Gadfly. This strikes me as hysterical; I mean, srsly, who does he think he's kidding? Pssht. Out-write me? Yeah right.

In all earnestness, I'm honored and flattered that Gabe has chosen to spice up NaNo using my wordcount as a motivator. My idea was to shoot for at least 3,000 words a day so that I have margin for slacking. I know that life will happen, so I wanted to plan for that and give myself breathing room. Besides, 3k a day is about what I was doing to prep the buffer for the regular updates, so no sweat.

I may have the highest wordcount of Gabe's friends, but I've got a few buddies on my list who are blowing me out of the water. Purplemoon is over 15k right now, and mdsnbelle is not far behind her! Makes my 9,420 seem palty in comparison.

I'm having a blast writing Descendants of Ancients. It's moving very quickly, which I'm not used to at all. The opening scene is a battle, with lots of explosions and people dying, and the second scene, where we meet the MC, is kinda gruesome, actually. I knew it was going to be, but I didn't know how it really would be until I wrote it, and then I was kinda grossed out.

This is a really rough draft; I'm not paying attention to my typing at all. Those of you who know me know that I am a terrible typist. I can spell well, but typing ... yeah. So, this thing is bloody. From a writing aspect, not a plot ... well, there is some blood, but ... oh, shut it.

The story is a lot grittier than I've been writing, with a lot more action, tension, and "noir" feeling to it. I really like it, and I can't wait to share it with you!

Oh, you want some of this? Well, you should know by now what you have to do to get it! For those of you who didn't read the applicable blog, I'll recap: Since I have two full-length projects underway, I won't be working on DofA beyond NaNo until they're done. Ergo, I won't be posting what I've written UNLESS there are donations. For every US$5.00, I will post 1,000 words of DofA. Mind you, this is not edited for spiffyness; it will be completely raw footage. But you should still be able to get the idea of what's going on, my atrocities upon the keyboard notwithstanding.

Alrighty, it's late and I'm tired, so that's all for this bloog. See you on the interwebs!

EDIT: See blips of the writings on Twitter!

does that mean you post it here or you send it to the donor by email?

PS: above post was not intended to discourage anybody - it was intended to show the high goals of others who might aim for a total of 500.000 words...
