The Ambassador's Agenda
This is a short story I wrote some years ago. I've updated it since, but the update was on a laptop that crashed. If ever I get it back, I'll post it here. Until then, enjoy this little sci-fi!
The people of Mantis have recently gained the status of Protectorate within the Counseled Realms, the inter-galactic planetary association guided by the Councils. Eager to expand their influence into space, they are welcoming Ambassadors from a wide variety of member Realms to their primary planet. Their sponsor Realm carefully oversees all these visits for their protection, to prevent anyone from taking advantage of or overwhelming them. But determined people find ways around the most careful preparations, and the most recent Ambassador is more than she seems to be ... even to those who sent her.
